So I was promised an ‘epic’ holiday.
My worry leading up to the holiday, was my realisation that my six companions were keen, regular cyclists and I had barely been on my bike over the past year.
To take my mind off things, our hosts took us to our accommodation. Our apartments were simply spectacular and the location right on one of the main squares of Lucca. Equally the staff were very accommodating and couldn’t do enough for us. Breakfast was immense too.
And so the cycling started. The equipment was of a very high standard and well maintained. Again Gabri and Max set everything up for us meticulously, and we set off each day on challenging, scenic and often spectacular routes around Lucca, on each of our six days.
My fears of not keeping up with my finely tuned companions dissipated as the great choice of restaurants and fine wines began to take hold. I like to think I got faster, but perhaps they got lethargic and slower on the fine food? Daily our hosts; Gabri, Max and Francesca guided us, supported us, fed us and joked with us, and finally leaving us more as friends than clients and host.
I had my ‘EPIC’ holiday and hope to return soon!

Everything was tailored to perfection; from the airport transfers, bike fit, selection of hotel (we must have had the best hotel in Lucca !),daily guiding on a variety of magical routes, stops for coffee/lunch/gelato to the evening restaurants..... it was simply 10/10, with so much fun and laughter.
At all times the attention to detail, professionalism, passion, energy and joyful enthusiasm from the Pedalitaly team was outstanding and gave us an overall experience far beyond our expectations. I cannot imagine returning to cycle in Tuscany with any other tour group.”.

My tour with Pedalitaly to the Apuan Alps was the highlight of our visit to Lucca. After a poor decision to leave the car at the top of a hill, we set off on a nice easy roll along the seashore and past the posh shops and cafes of Forte Dei Marmi to warm up. Soon enough we started climbing into the white mountains above Carrara with spectacular views of the Apuan Alps and the quarries that once supplied Michelangelo. My guide, Gabrielle made me feel like we were old friends, and was an absolute pro shepherding me over the climbs and safely down the incredible descents. I only regret that I didn't have more time to ride with him.
The Canyon Ultimate I rented was in perfect condition and a joy to ride. Max and Gabri were fantastic hosts, the entire experience was top-notch! I would highly recommend their service whether for rentals or guided tours. I can't wait to ride with them again.
