TOUR
An intermediate stage on the outskirts of Turin. 34.7 km with an elevation gain of 722 m, starting from Superga riding along a downhill stretch. Most of the height difference will be accumulated in the second part of the route, with the first climb starting at the 14th km and, at the end of the route, a last challenging ascent leading to the finish line.
This third stage starts in the centre of Superga, right next to its beautiful Basilica. Located at an altitude of 672 metres, it is one of Turin’s symbolic monuments and dominates the entire Savoy capital from above.
For the first 14 km the gradient is gentle, allowing you to warm up your legs and cross the Natural Park of the Superga hill along the Via dei Colli, the “panoramic” road loved by local cyclists. The route then quickly reaches Pino Torinese. From here the route opens up onto the view of the rolling hills and surrounding plains until the end of the descent, in the hamlet of San Felice.
The first real climb of this stage begins here. The 7 km ascent will allow us to reach the Colle della Maddalena and the Parco della Rimembranza with its important bronze monument, the Faro della Vittoria, dedicated to the Winged Victory and donated to the town by Senator Giovanni Agnelli to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Italy’s victory in the First World War.
Another fast downhill section allows you to lighten your legs and prepare them for the decisive final climb of Strada della Brigida, which starts along the walls of the Royal Castle of Moncalieri, one of the Savoy residences of Piedmont, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997.
The last 2 km of challenging climbs, with gradients of up to 12.8%, conclude this splendid city stage through the hills of Turin.
