THE 3 SCHEDULED STAGES

Lake Como is the backdrop for this virtual race, which features an unusual and fascinating route.

The starting position is in the town of Bellagio, an enchanting tourist and cultural destination overlooking Lake Como. You’ll leave the village riding a few kilometres before tackling the climb that is traditionally part of the Giro di Lombardia, that leads to the Valico del Ghisallo where you’ll recognise the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Ghisallo, also known as the “cyclists’ church”.

The road descends rapidly to the outskirts of Asso, where you’ll turn left and take the road that, without any further crossroads, climbs up to the Colma di Sormano, where there is an astronomical observatory and from where you can admire an exceptional panorama of the entire Larian Triangle.

The finish line is located at the Muro di Sormano pass which is well known as it is an extreme climb famous throughout the world for its prohibitive gradients where professional riders compete every year.

Distance: 26,3 km

Elevation: 1180 mt

The starting position is in the town of Tarvisio, the last Italian municipality which borders to the north with Austria and to the east with Slovenia. The route immediately takes the SS54 road through the Rio del Lago valley through to Cave del Predil. In front of you’ll admire the Cima del Lago (Peak of the Lake), whilst on the left you’ll see the green waters of the Predil Lake surrounded by grazing animals.

Once past the lake, you’ll turn onto the SP76, a road still surrounded by vegetation that leads to Sella Nevea, a hamlet of Chiusaforte, from where you’ll take the path that leads directly to the plateau.

The first part of the climb has a short section with tough gradients, then the gradient softens until it becomes a pleasant ride that leaves room for admiration of the enchanting alpine landscape.

The finish line is located at the top of the Montasio plateau near a “malga” (a traditional Italian alpine-style cheese hailing) that produces the famous cheese of the same name from this area: Montasio. This destination is at an altitude of 1,700 metres above sea level, was also the scene of a stage of the 2013 Giro d’Italia and offers an exceptional panorama of the entire Friulian plain below.

Distance: 25 km

Elevation: 900 mt

The Umbrian Sibillini Mountains are the stage for the last virtual race of this circuit.

The race starts in Norcia, home of St Benedict (Patron Saint of Europe) and the black truffle, and continues along the ‘Tre Valli Umbre’, a road that links the Tiberina Valley with the Nera Valley and the Umbrian Valley.

We leave this road at the entrance to the SP477 and continue uphill to the Perugia refuge, a point after which we begin to see the amazing Piana di Castelluccio, a famous tourist attraction for its colours during the lentil flowering period.

We descend rapidly to the plain and cross it entirely . When we reach the point where we can see the village of Castelluccio perched on the left, we’ll turn right for the last easy 6 km climb that leads to Forca di Presta at an altitude of 1550 m above sea level in the presence of Monte Vettore.

Distance: 35 km

Elevation: 1275 mt
