PEDALITALY Umbria Summer Race | EU
The Umbrian Sibillini Mountains are the stage of this beautiful race in the heart of the Apennines.
The race starts from Norcia, home of St. Benedict (patron saint of Europe) and of the black truffle, and continues along the “Three Umbrian Valleys”, a road that connects the Val Tiberina with the Valnerina and the Valle Umbra.
After leaving this road, you continue to climb up to the Perugia mountain hut, a point after which you begin to glimpse the enchanting Piana di Castelluccio, famous throughout the world for its incredible colors during the period of the flowering of lentils.
You quickly descend into the plain and cross it completely. Once you reach the perched village of Castelluccio, turn right for the last easy 6-km ramp that leads to the Forca di Presta at an altitude of 1550m above sea level in front of Mount Vettore.
