Prosecco and Sellaronda Dolomites Bike Day Overview
From the Prosecco hills to the mountains of the Dolomites: a unique itinerary amongst the wonders of north-eastern Italy.
Considered one of the best known and most important areas for world oenology, the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene are a Unesco Natural Heritage Site. A itinerary characterised by panoramic views and unique landscapes including vineyards and small villages, discovering local treasures and unforgettable food and wine experiences. We will discover Cortina d’Ampezzo, a glitzy and glamorous symbol of the Italian and international scene, located in the heart of the Veneto Dolomites, in a wide valley surrounded by high peaks, and one of the most famous mountain resorts in the world. We will ride along the roads of the famous Sellaronda route during the day dedicated exclusively to cyclists only. A truly unforgettable cycling experience!





Bike Tour Itinerary
Welcome to Veneto! Our journey will commence by meeting up with the Pedalitaly team for a light lunch and introductions followed by bike fitting and a quick warm-up bike ride. During today’s gentle ride we will have the chance to enjoy the views and become familiar with the roads, the equipment and the team. We will ride around the area of Vittorio Veneto which will give us a taster of what awaits us on this unique bike tour.

Today’s ride will enable us to cycle through the famous hills where Prosecco is produced. The area known as the “Colline del Prosecco di Conegliano e Valdobbiadene” extends eastwards until the town of Vittorio Veneto. The landscape is truly magnificent and is characterized by a particular geological formation called hogback where small valleys running from the east to the west are divided by short and steep hills. During the ride we will also have the chance to visit a local winery to experience some of the local products with a private wine tasting.

Activity: Visit to Tiziano Vecellio house museum / Museo dell’occhiale
Today we will ride from the Prosecco hills to Pieve di Cadore, a mountain village and birthplace of the famous painter Tiziano. In the morning we will cycle along the rolling hills surrounded by a wonderful landscape reaching the town of Ponte nelle Alpi, the gateway to the Alps. Riding, surrounded by the stunning alpine landscape we will pass through the Dolomiti Bellunesi and the Dolomiti Friulane national parks, climbing up towards our final destination of the day, Pieve di Cadore. From here the views are truly breathtaking, as the Marmole and the Sorapiss frame the valley around this quiet village.

Activity: food experience, visit to the Melinda apple factory Golden Theatre
After a regenerating breakfast we will ride towards Cortina d’Ampezzo along the “Lunga via delle Dolomiti” bike path. A route that follows the former railway track surrounded by some of the most suggestive Dolomite’s peaks such as mt. Croda del Lago, mt. Pelmo and mt. Antelao, the second highest peak of the dolomites at 3264 m. The Dolomites are a Unesco world heritage site, not only because of their natural beauty but also because of their unique geological composition. Once in Cortina, there are two different route options we can take to reach the alpine lake of Misurina. From there we will enjoy a pleasant descent that will take us to our hotel in Cortina.

Today will be dedicated to relaxing and giving our legs a rest before the big day. Take advantage of some time off the bike to enjoy a stroll in Cortina or a hike with an experienced guide along one of the amazing trails which surround this beautiful town. If instead you feel like doing some extra miles and some serious elevation gain, two of the most famous Giro d’Italia climbs, Falzarego pass and Giau pass, are just a stone’s throw away.

The Sella Ronda bike day is a once in a lifetime experience. On this day the stunning and challenging alpine route is dedicated solely to cycling. No cars, no motorbikes, no camper vans, nothing but you and your fellow cyclists. It’s the best way to enjoy the astonishing beauty of this area. Find your own pace, it’s not a race, and enjoy the challenge of these majestic mountain passes: Sella, Pordoi, Campolongo and Gardena. In the evening we will meet up for our last meal and a celebratory toast.

This morning we will surely recall and savour our favorite special moments on the wonderful rides we enjoyed together during this one of a kind bike tour before heading off to the Milano Malpensa Airport to continue on to your next destination.
